Blair EntenmannHaving learned as a member of Ferris State University’s American Marketing Association chapter as a student in Big Rapids, adjunct faculty member Blair Entenmann is humble and reflective, being named the 2022 Professor of the Year by Ferris’ collegiate chapter of the AMA.
Entenmann joined the College of Business faculty in 2010, following 35 years of professional experience in corporate and entrepreneurial marketing. The COB notes that Entenmann won the Professor of the Year award in 2015 and the prestigious Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award in 2019.
“I am a co-advisor of the AMA Ferris chapter, along with professors Donna Green and Scot Squires,” Entenmann said. “Our registered student organization was named as a top 20 chapter at the 2022 International Collegiate Conference, an achievement we have consistently had in recent years. With a recent top-three finish and numerous top 10 Chapter honors over the past 15 years, in an association with more than 300 collegiate chapters worldwide, that is a great accomplishment, a real testament to our students.”
Blair said one joy of his involvements with AMA Ferris is advising the Crimson Consulting cohort.
“We have around 15 students who advise local businesses with their marketing, such as logo design, websites, brochures, social media, direct-mail advertising and other projects,” Entenmann said. “There has also been collaboration in our College of Business, working with the Music Entertainment Business program and the Risk Management/Insurance Program on their image and student recruitment. These projects offer a truly experiential learning opportunity that our students can be proud of as they prepare for their professional lives.”
Entenmann, who lives in Rockford and a native of Midland, said AMA Ferris has grown organically. However, it has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels, where as many as 88 students are affiliated with the organization.
“As this past academic year began, we started with a roster of 16 students,” Entenmann
said. “The implications of the COVID-19 pandemic were still lingering, but we grew
to 50 active participants by the end of the year.”
The AMA Ferris group also has Gold RSO status for the 2022-23 academic year, ranking
highest among more than 200 registered student organizations on campus.
“That is another honor that the students can be proud of. It was their work to meet the high standard that allowed them to earn that recognition,” Entenmann said.
Finally, he took a moment to consider his days as an AMA executive board member on campus, serving as vice president of membership in 1977. He was named AMA Student of the Year in 1978.
“I am so honored to have been selected professor of the year from a field of 174 eligible business professors,” Entenmann said. “Getting this award from an organization that offered so much to my professional direction and development plus being able to “pay it forward” as a teacher and advisor is very gratifying.”
