Three-time defending Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Champion and reigning NCAA Division II National Champion Ferris State University was picked to finish first yet again as the league unveiled its 2022 preseason coaches poll on Monday (July 25) in conjunction with its football media day event in Detroit.

The Bulldogs received five of a possible seven first-place votes and totaled 35 points in being chosen as the favorite among the league's seven conference football institutions. The votes were made by the conference member head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.

Rival Grand Valley State, which was the league's 2021 runner-up, earned two top votes and 32 points in finishing second followed by Michigan Tech in third (24), Saginaw Valley State in fourth (22), Northern Michigan in fifth (14), Wayne State in sixth (12) and Davenport in seventh (8).

The media day activities were held inside the Wayne State University field house and included the release of the preseason coaches' poll, a live webstream, and various social media events.

Ferris State was represented by Assistant Head Coach Brian Rock, who filled in for head coach Tony Annese, along with senior offensive guard Adam Sieler (Pickney) and senior defensive back Cyntell Williams (Battle Creek).
