Career and Internship Fair to Fill Student Recreation Center Feb. 22

PhotoStudents and alumni of Ferris State University are welcome to meet with employers and companies offering career exploration options Tuesday, Feb. 22, as the Spring Career and Internship Fair is held in the Student Recreation Center. A virtual fair will take place on Thursday, March 24.

Ferris State University students seeking internship opportunities to build experiences and those preparing for their career options can present themselves, as the Center for Career and Professional Success hosts a Career and Internship Fair in the Student Recreation Center on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

CPS Assistant Kathryn Thomas said the opportunity to meet with and impress employers takes place on 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. schedules, as more than 150 businesses, government operations, school districts and nonprofit organizations plan to participate.

“We will use the court area of the SRC to host our employers,” Thomas said. “We hope students find it easier to connect with the companies, entities and agencies taking part by visiting a single building. We always see a greater number of participants for our spring semester fair. That is the case again this year.”

Students registering through Handshake can view a layout of employer locations for the Feb. 22 event and use that platform to participate in a virtual Career and Internship Fair on Thursday, March 24. Thomas said the CPS Office and the Handshake online conduit are valuable resources to serve students taking part in their first fair and those who want to enter their career pursuits with capable counseling assistance.

“We are always glad to have students share their resume and cover letter intentions with us so that they can make the best possible impression on these companies,” Thomas said. “On Friday, Feb. 18, there will be a ‘Last-Minute Resume Review and Interview Prep,’ from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Room 120 of the University Center. They are also encouraged to visit the ‘First Lady’s Attic,’ so that they can meet employers face-to-face, or virtually next month, in professional attire.”

Participants who need accommodations to participate in the Career and Internship Fair activities should contact the Center for Career and Professional Success by email or phone at (231) 591-2685.
