New Ferris State University President Bill Pink, whose presidency started on Monday, July 11, is ready to go on the road to engage alumni and friends across Michigan.

The “Link with Pink Tour” includes eight stops beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 31, in Big Rapids, the home of Ferris’ main campus. Future tour stops include Flint, on Tuesday, Sept. 6; in Detroit, on Wednesday, Sept. 7; Traverse City, on Tuesday, Sept. 13; Grand Rapids, on Thursday, Sept. 15; East Lansing, on Tuesday, Sept. 27; Midland, on Thursday, Sept. 29; and in Kalamazoo, on Friday, Sept. 30.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to go out, across the state of Michigan, to engage Ferris alumni and friends who are making a difference in their communities,” Pink said. “While I look forward to sharing a vision for Ferris State University’s future, I am also eager to hear from our alumni. I want to hear from them about Ferris’ impact on their lives, how they experienced Ferris, and what matters most to them as we work together to shape and build the future of Ferris State University.”

The meet-and-greet events, which guests should RSVP for, include a casual evening of appetizers, beverages, conversations about past Ferris experiences, and a bold vision for the university’s future. Tour stops provide alumni and friends to get to know Ferris’ 19th president.

The tour starts at Cranker’s Brewery in Big Rapids on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., two days after Ferris begins its academic year.

In September, as Bulldog Beginnings continues on the main campus, the “Link with Pink Tour” heads to Blackstone’s Smokehouse in Flint on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. before heading south to Detroit for a Wednesday, Sept. 7 event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Gem Theatre.

Six days later, the tour resumes as Pink heads north to Traverse City for a Tuesday, Sept. 13 event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Delamar.

Two days later, on Thursday, Sept. 15, Pink returns to Grand Rapids, where he served as Grand Rapids Community College’s president before becoming Ferris’ president. “The Link with Pink Tour” hosts an event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at McKay Tower.

The tour includes a stop in East Lansing, Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Graduate, followed by a short trip east of Big Rapids to Midland on Thursday, Sept. 29, after Homecoming week, for an event at Midland Country Club from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The tour concludes in Kalamazoo on Friday, Sept. 30 at Radisson.

For those who are unable to attend the in-person events, the Alumni Association will host a virtual gathering on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

The “Link with Pink Tour” events are free. However, as space is limited, registration is requested at the selected venue for attendance. Visitors are asked to RSVP by Wednesday, Aug. 24. For more information and to RSVP, visit the “Link with Pink Tour” website.
