Ferris State University’s online Master of Science degree program in Information Security and Intelligence has a Top-25 ranking from the prestigious national publication, U.S. News and World Report.

Ferris tied for 21st among 74 schools in Best Online Masters in Computer Information Technology programs. Assistant Professor Molly Cooper, an alumna of Ferris’ Bachelor of Science and Master of Science ISI programs, noted the report had scores of 50 or better in its assessment of faculty credentials and training, student excellence, engagement and services and technologies.

“It is another fantastic honor for our program, a testament both to our incredible students and an extremely well-versed faculty,” Cooper said. “The ISI program, in all its variations, has been able to illustrate how many avenues exist, where a student can express themselves and succeed, professionally and personally. We understand and accept the challenge to re-invent our offerings on a regular basis, as it is a big part of why we are able to enjoy these and other honors.”

U.S. News and World Report emphasized the archived and recorded instruction, which provides ease of access for graduate-level ISI learning students. The ranking also noted 83 percent of Ferris’ Masters of Science students had professional roles in their field while pursuing this degree.

“Our use of open-source intelligence, such as the review and observation of social media as a method to recognize information security threats is just one facet of the foundational knowledge and hands-on training we are able to provide students,” Cooper said. “As the ISI program builds on its offerings in Artificial Intelligence and curricula involving the Internet of Things and machine learning, we anticipate greater awareness of our stature as a destination for top students, who look to establish or expand their knowledge and position in high-demand industries.”

The ISI program is Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited in Cybersecurity and is a National Security Association Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Education.
