The traditional Monday night opportunity for students to snack on a stack of pancakes during final exams resumes the evening of April 26. Ferris State University President David Eisler and fellow university officials will partner with Student Government to host Pancakes with the President, which this year moves to a new venue in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

Outgoing Student Government President Allyson Faulkner acknowledged considerable discussion regarding potential sites for Pancakes with the President. Based on the conversations, the event has been moved to the concession area under Wheeler Pavilion at Top Taggart Field.

“We will be serving from 8 to 10 p.m., with a decidedly different look to the gathering,” Faulkner said. “Our Student Government volunteers will team with President Eisler and other university officials at stations along the concession counter, so students can pick up their favorites from our menu and move on, socially distanced and focused on a safe, fun time.”

Faulkner said the event will include pancake sandwiches with sausage, dollar pancakes, and gluten-free and dairy-free options.

“As always, Pancakes with the President is funded by the President’s Office, which provides students a chance to enjoy some comfort food and a break from studies as the end of the semester approaches,” Faulkner said. “Student Government encourages those attending to use the CheckPoint app to sign in for their chance to win one of three $50 gift cards, which could be used at the Ferris bookstore this semester, or the Ferris Outfitter store coming to the University Center in the fall semester.”

Faulkner said gift certificate winners will be notified by email on Tuesday, April 27.

“We are delighted that Pancakes with the President can continue, even in this adjusted format,” Faulkner said. “Off-campus visitors can park in Lot 37, pick up their favorites and enjoy this campus tradition.”
