Summer Internships: Tyler Bronsink

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

He is: a senior in Television and Digital Media Production from Byron Center. His internship is with WKTV Community Television in Wyoming, Michigan.

What are you Learning on your Internship/Making a Difference: “I have learned how to operate different cameras and serve on the station’s remote schedule. I have also learned editing techniques on software, such as Final Cut Pro, with responsibilities on stories regarding the 2020 census. I have contributed other community story ideas.”

Future Plans: “I am enjoying this experience in community media, so a station like WKTV would be a good fit. I am also looking into opportunities with a film or media studio, as an editor/writer.”

Advice to other Students Seeking Internships: “Select several that you would like to work on, then determine how their internship fits for you so that you can learn for a variety of career opportunities.”

Ferris Core Value Tyler Relates to: Ethical Community. “I want to help out the place where I live, in any way I can. I feel we need to help each out, and believe the best opportunity I have to make a contribution is through my work in media.”
