Summer Internships: Bryan Salinas

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Ferris State UniversityBryan Salinas

He is: a senior from Holland, studying Marketing with a concentration in Sports. Bryan's internship is at the headquarters of the Steelcase Corporation, in Grand Rapids.

About Bryan's Internship: "I have been interning in the Order Fulfillment department. I have learned how a big company like Steelcase has reacted to a most unexpected pandemic. I have made a difference by assisting them with processing any order changes that dealers or customers may have. This can be a change in the delivery date, change in quantity, specification, delivery address, etc. We also notify dealers if their orders will not make it out on time and resolve various customer complaints. "

How Ferris Helped Bryan Get The Internship: The Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center introduced me to an initiative through the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, called 'Building Bridges Through Education.' They were able to coach me and assist my professional development."
