Ferris to host Minds Aflame Speaker Series: Beyond Sustainability

Ferris State University will host a five-star campus event on Tuesday, Oct. 22, “Minds Aflame Speaker Series: Beyond Sustainability” from 6 to 9 p.m. in Williams Auditorium. The evening features a series of TEDx-inspired talks on topics such as environmental, economic and social sustainability. Each hour features three speakers.

“The Beyond Initiative, now in its eighth year, was established in 2012 to bring faculty and staff together around an annual theme, to plan curricular and co-curricular projects and activities that encourage our students to be globally engaged,” said Lisa vonReichbauer, assistant director for the Office of International Education. “The thriving global ecosystem we have in our campus is rooted in the work of the Beyond Initiative.”

The event goal is to help attendees become more informed, engaged, and inspired.

Students may attend the first hour, then participate in the five-star follow-up hosted by the Center for Leadership Activities and Career Services from 7 to 8 p.m., with food provided.

The Office of International Education, Ferris State University Sustainability Committee and College of Arts and Sciences are the event’s sponsors.
