Interactive Open House Event Gives Attendees FirstHand Look Inside Life as a KCAD Student

Kendall College of Art and DesignGRAND RAPIDS — Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) is inviting aspiring creatives of all ages to step inside the college’s student experience and learn more about the value they can expect from a KCAD degree.

On Nov. 9, 2019 from 1 to 5 p.m., KCAD’s 2019 Open House will illustrate how the college’s immersive programs, expert faculty, resource-rich campus, and supportive creative community can transform students’ passion for making into a world of professional opportunity.

Visitors can explore campus freely, and attend a wide variety of interactive sessions designed to showcase the tools, spaces, and supportive learning environments that empower KCAD students to reach their creative potential. Programs will offer demonstrations, presentations or workshops.

Team up with current KCAD students to see who can design the most outrageously functional coffee table; mix music and create sound effects and voiceovers with professional studio equipment in the Sound Lab, learn how to paint digitally on a Cintiq tablet, experiment with pottery wheel throwing in the Ceramics Studio, learn how to capture gestures on paper by drawing from a live model, create photographs without a camera in a fully-equipped darkroom, design your own unique keychain using the state-of-the-art digital fabrication technology in the KCAD FlexLab, and much more!

Future students and guests can also get an in-depth view of the admissions process and financial aid opportunities, attend informational sessions and connect directly with faculty and staff.

“We know that no two people approach their education from the exact same perspective, so we want visitors to be able to explore and experience the wide variety of programs KCAD has to offer,” said KCAD Director of Admissions Services Shana Hansma. “By opening our campus, our programs, and our faculty to prospective students, we can show students how to focus their interests toward a creative career.”

Check-in for the event begins at 12:15 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive before 1 p.m. in order to make the most of their time on campus.
