PHOTO CAPTIONS: The chance to make a Ferris State University memory and prepare for post-collegiate demands comes Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Fall 2019 Grad Fair. The event will be held in the University Center ballroom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Around 500 students who are eligible to participate in Fall 2019 Commencement exercises are expected to prepare for the celebration, and their post-college lives by attending Ferris State University’s Grad Fair Thursday, Nov. 7. The University Center ballroom will be the site for the fair, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Director of Alumni Relations Brandi Behrenwald said representatives from each university college participate in the event, where they can confirm that a student’s academic requirements have been met for graduation.

“We design the Grad Fair to be a one-stop, enjoyable experience for our graduates, so they Grad Fair imagedo not come to any last-minute surprises,” Behrenwald said. “They can print commencement tickets for their family or guests, record a video greeting that will be shown before their ceremony, or pose for a picture with Ferris’ mascot, Brutus.”

Grad Fair participants can learn about Ferris’ Master of Science programs in the College of Business, as representatives will be on hand during the event.

Alumni Relations, the Commencement Office and the Ferris State Bookstore sponsor the fair.

“Caps and gowns can be purchased at the fair, and there will be a Commencement Cap Photo Challenge again this Fall, which is our collaboration with Ferris’ News Services and Social Media office,” Behrenwald said. “Materials will be available, so students can decorate their mortarboards the day of the fair, or prepare their caps by the contest deadline. Winners will be selected, with prizes such as a diploma frame, leather portfolios and Ferris pen sets.”

Behrenwald said there are a variety of vendors at the fair who can provide assistance with transition to careers, or offer the chance to stay close to the memories made on the Ferris campus.

“The vendors who participate in the fair include Balfour and Herff Jones, who have class rings and other jewelry available. Ferris’ Copy Center can help graduates with business cards, announcements and other printing needs,” Behrenwald said. “Liberty Mutual representatives will be available to talk about car insurance, health coverage and other plans, and the Ferris Athletic Department will have information on ticket packages for Bulldog sports, so our students can stay faithful to their favorite teams.”
