Beginning Friday, Feb. 1, Ferris State University students with unpaid parking tickets issued during January 2019 can pay parking fines with non-perishable, non-expired food items. Payment must be made in the Department of Public Safety Parking Office during business hours. DPS will only accept items until the end of business Friday, Feb. 8.
Food for Fines “payments” are as follows:
- 5 items are equal to a $10 ticket
- 10 items are equal to a $20 ticket
- 2 items are equal to a $5 late fee
- $100 tickets excluded (Fire Lane and Handicap violations)
All goods collected will be donated to Wesley House, the student-run food pantry on campus, located at 628 South Warren Avenue in Big Rapids. If you are interested in volunteering with Wesley House, contact them via their FSU Food Pantry Facebook page or email.
