Career and Internship Fair Feb. 21 to Welcome Nearly 200 Employer Organizations

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University’s Ewigleben Sports Complex will have an “all-business” theme on Thursday, Feb. 21, as the Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services welcomes students and alumni to the Spring 2019 Career and Internship Fair.

CLACS Career and Volunteer Center Coordinator Michele Albright said the fair runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 21. Interested participants are advised to visit the Career Center in the University Center building, and to make use of online resources designed to assist candidates in their preparations.

“Successful applicants will have researched the participating companies and the opportunities they are offering and mapped out a course to proceed through the complex that day,” Albright said. “We want students to add the FairsAPP to their mobile device, which is a free download on the Apple App Store or Google Play. Our Big Interview website allows participants to practice responses to questions that recruiters will likely ask of them. Also, the First Lady’s Attic is open weekdays in UCB Room 134 to help our students dress appropriately for success.”

Albright said that nearly 200 employer organizations are confirmed for the Spring 2019 Career and Internship Fair.

“There will be state-level and federal government career opportunities, with a representative from the Central Intelligence Agency, on site for the event,” Albright said. “Employers from the fields of health care, education, criminal justice, computer information and security will also be on hand, and there will be recruiters for nonprofit agencies. Other organizational representatives at the fair will be focused on speaking with students from Ferris’ College of Business and the College of Engineering Technology.”

Albright added that the regional hiring climate appears to be active. Forty-nine employers from west-central Michigan are registered for the fair. Nineteen of those operations are based in Mecosta and Osceola counties.

People who require special accommodations to attend the Spring 2019 Career and Internship Fair should contact the CLACS office, or call (231) 591-2685 at least 72 hours in advance.
