Allyson Faulkner, a sophomore studying Political Science at Ferris State University
has been selected to join the 2019-2020 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows, as announced
by Campus Compact, a Boston-based nonprofit organization working to advance the purposes
of higher education.Campus Compact, a Boston-based nonprofit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education, has announced the 262 students who will make up the organization’s 2019-20 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows, including Ferris State University’s own Allyson Faulkner.
Faulkner is a sophomore in Political Science from Rockford who thanked Honors Program Advisor Cathy Bordeau for her nomination.
“I was pleased to be selected from a field of candidates by President David Eisler, and I hope to learn a great deal from other Civic Fellows, when we come together at events through the next year,” Faulkner said. “As the Vice President of Associated Student Government, I have worked to make the Ferris campus more inclusive and inviting. I hope to further that effort in the next academic year, as I pursue the ASG Presidency.”
Faulkner is also a member of eight campus student organizations.
The Newman Civic Fellowship, named for Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, is a one-year experience emphasizing personal, professional, and civic growth for students who have demonstrated a capacity for leadership and an investment in solving public problems. Through the fellowship, Campus Compact provides a variety of learning and networking opportunities, including a national conference of Newman Civic Fellows in partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. The fellowship also provides fellows with access to apply for exclusive scholarship and post-graduate opportunities.
