University and FFA Negotiations Update (Sept. 6, 2018)

On Monday, Aug. 27, the University filed for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction, which was granted by the Mecosta County Circuit Court. The temporary restraining order prevented faculty from continuing to strike. On Sept. 4, both the University and Ferris Faculty Association attorneys agreed to an indefinite extension of this temporary restraining order, and the FFA has agreed that they will not strike.

It has been a week since the last negotiation session with the FFA. During that session on Aug. 29, progress was being made, and talks have yet to resume. The University values and respects the negotiation process, and is hopeful that a tentative contract agreement can be reached in the near future. Doing so is in the best interest of our faculty, our University, and most importantly, our students.
