Michigan Native Dave Coulier Tabbed as Homecoming Comedian for Sept. 27 Performance

Davce CoulierA wealth of experience and starring roles make Dave Coulier familiar and appealing as the Michigan native will entertain a Williams Auditorium audience on Thursday, Sept. 27, for Ferris State University’s Homecoming Comedy event, which begins at 8 p.m.

Homecoming comedian committee member Ciara Kibby, a third-year student in the Biology/Pre-Veterinary program from Watervliet, said Coulier was the choice of students polled by the Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services.

“We asked them to help us structure the pursuit of a comedian, and he was among the name acts that were offered to students,” Kibby said. “We are happy to be able to select and bring on a performer of his caliber.”

Coulier is a native of St. Clair Shores and played the role of Joey on the ABC television series “Full House” during its eight-year run on the network. It currently airs on Country Music Television and has been shown in more than 100 countries worldwide. Coulier has nearly 40 years of stand-up comedy experience and hosted “America’s Funniest People” on ABC. He has also had a prodigious career as a voice actor, appearing in cartoon comedies such as “Scooby and Scrappy Doo,” “The Real Ghostbusters” and “Robot Chicken.”

“We offered tickets to students beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 4, with a lower price point, since they are our primary audience,” Kibby said. “Students and the general public will be able to purchase additional tickets for $10 each beginning on Monday, Sept. 17.  We expect that this show may sell out and that we will have a fun and festive audience.”

Logan Dunsmore, a senior in Ferris’ Plastics and Polymer Engineering program, won the student competition held on Thursday, Sept. 13, allowing him to return for a second year as the opening act at this event. Dunsmore is currently working as a stand-up comedian in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Tickets can be purchased Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the CLACS office, which is on the lower level of the University Center. Purchases can be made with cash or credit cards.

Anyone with a disability, requiring special accommodations to attend the Homecoming Comedy event is asked to contact the CLACS office at (231) 591-2685 or by email.
