2018 Ferris State University and Ferris Faculty Association Reach Contract Agreement

Ferris State University and the Ferris Faculty Association have reached an accord on a new five-year collective bargaining agreement. It was ratified by union membership on Nov. 8 and approved by the University’s Board of Trustees on Nov. 13, 2018.

The highlights of the contract agreement include an overall 2 percent annual salary increase in years one through three, and a 2.25 percent annual salary increase in years four and five. Also included is $300,000 annually for supplemental market adjustments.

“Agreement on this contract was reached through the concerted efforts of both negotiating teams,” said Board of Trustees Chairman Paul Boyer. “The University worked to reach an agreement that meets the interests of both our faculty and our students.”

Ferris State University President David L. Eisler thanked both negotiating teams for reaching a settlement.

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement,” said Eisler. “Faculty are essential to the education we provide our students. Through this, we will continue to provide a competitive compensation package to attract and retain our faculty.”

The new contract runs through June 30, 2023, and covers approximately 450 tenured and tenure-track faculty members on the Big Rapids campus.
