Purchasing tickets through the team’s website allows the ticket holder to acquire their special Tigers hat in crimson and gold, with a Ferris logo. A limited number of tickets are available for the promotion, though the Tigers increased the allotment, based on positive response from purchasers.

Winter doldrums can be shaken suddenly when the focal point becomes baseball as evidenced by the early response to the Ferris State University Alumni Association’s announcement of a promotion with the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Sunday, April 15.

Alumni Relations Director Brandi Behrenwald said as soon as the office announced a ticketing Ferris State Universitypackage, which includes a Ferris Red Detroit Tigers hat with a Bulldog logo, the social media reaction was “extremely positive.”

“There’s been a great response to our first few social media posts about this game, as the Tigers will be hosting the New York Yankees,” Behrenwald said. “Even though our ticket allotment has recently increased, Ferris alumni and friends of the university should not wait to register, if they are interested in joining us.”

The 1:10 p.m. contest against the Yankees concludes a three-game series against the Tigers’ long-time rivals and is the first series in a nine-game home stand for Detroit. Behrenwald said their intention is to make FSU Day an annual event, and this date fits well with the Alumni Association schedule of events for spring and summer.

“We are happy that our supporters will get to see a quality opponent, like the Yankees,” Behrenwald said. “We expect that many Ferris fans and friends will be ready to shake off their ‘cabin fever’ and celebrate the start of the season with us.”

The Alumni Association will explore hosting a gathering at Comerica Park as part of future FSU Day packages, based on the response to this inaugural offering. Behrenwald said the Alumni Association hopes all those interested use the link on the Alumni Association homepage to begin the ticketing process with the Tigers, which is necessary to acquire the special Detroit hat with Ferris accents.

“There are a variety of seating options at attractive prices,” Behrenwald said. “Every package that is purchased through the Tigers will support the Alumni Association’s Legacy Scholarship program. We ask that alumni and friends register with us, so that we can communicate any pertinent information about changes that might arise with respect to the game and promotion.”

The 2018 baseball season presents other opportunities to gather and celebrate with Ferris alumni and supporters, as the Alumni Association plans an outing at Guaranteed Rate Field, in Chicago, Sunday, June 17, as the White Sox host Tigers, and Wednesday, August 1 with the Great Lakes Loons, in Midland.
