UPDATE: Dec. 20, 2018, 2:45 p.m.

An immediate evacuation order was issued this afternoon, Dec. 20, for three west-campus Ferris State University buildings: Allied Health, Michigan College of Optometry and College of Pharmacy. All commercial businesses, including the FSU Copy Center, between Ferris Drive and State Street, have been evacuated. An excavation project, searching for a steam leak, has led to a gas leak and has taken out many west-campus phone lines. DTE Energy is on site to shut off the gas and to begin the repair process. Telecomm staff is starting the process of assessing the phone line damage and beginning repairs.

We will have more information as it becomes available. Additional RAVE and ferris.edu messages will advise when the repairs have been completed.

Estimated time to repair is two to three hours.
