Gov. Snyder Appoints Zimmerman to the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists

Gregory ZimmermanGov. Rick Snyder has announced the appointment of Ferris State University’s Gregory Zimmerman to the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists. Zimmerman is an academic department head and is responsible for leadership, management and administration of academic programs and department operations in the College of Health Professions.

“I am humbled to be selected to this board and pleased to serve in this capacity,” Zimmerman said. “Ensuring professional standards are current and maintained is critically important for the health and safety of our citizens.”

The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the licensure and practice of Michigan's occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.

“I thank Gregory for joining the Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists,” Snyder said. “His knowledge of the health field gives me confidence he will bring great insight to this board.”

He holds a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and public health education and a master’s degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University. Zimmerman also holds a doctorate in higher education leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He will represent the general public and replace Jennifer Colombo.

Zimmerman will serve a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
