College of Engineering Technology’s Women Welcome Event Set for Sept. 8

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University’s College of Engineering Technology is hosting its “Welcome Women in the College of Engineering Technology” event on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. in University Center, Room 202C.

The third-annual event, aimed at women who are new to campus and entering the College of Engineering Technology, includes dinner, a brief overview of main campus, networking opportunities and a CET panel of women to offer their experiences, advice and words of wisdom.

“Events like this help students network and build connections with each other and to create a sense of community for women in the College of Engineering Technology,” said Leigha Compson, university career programs specialist. “This program was created based on feedback provided by previous students, who expressed a desire to feel more connected to other women as females are underrepresented in engineering and related fields. Not only do the attendees have an opportunity to interact with fellow students, faculty and staff, but they also learn more about campus resources and ways to get involved at Ferris.”

While the welcome event is geared toward new female CET students, anyone is welcome to attend, to get a perspective on being an engineering technology student at Ferris.

For more information on the event, contact Leigha Compson at (231) 591-3549 or [email protected] or visit ferris.edu/calendar.
