Matthews to Present 'Beer, Booze and Books' Event Set for Sept. 17

Jim MatthewsFerris State University’s seminar courses will be hosting Beer, Booze and Books – presented by Jim Matthews at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. in Williams Auditorium on Thursday, Sept. 17. Beer, Booze and Books is a presentation designed to educate students about how drinking can have detrimental effects relative to their academic and social affairs.

An approved speaker for the NCAA Sports Sciences Speaker Grant program, Matthews has been recognized by the New Hampshire Legislature for his superior work in substance abuse, education and prevention. Matthews has presented alcohol and other drug education and abuse preventions for more than 400,000 students on 400-plus campuses around the U.S. and Canada.

“This program can assist students in making healthy, low-risk choices about alcohol,” Matthews said. “The information will help students avoid the problems associated with dangerous drinking and have a healthy and successful college career.”

As a requirement of FSUS courses, students must have proof of attendance by getting their tickets stamped at the conclusion of the presentation.
