Annual Veterans Day Breakfast Wednesday, Nov. 11 Sponsored by Ferris President's Office

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University students, faculty and staff who are current or past members of the military are invited to the annual Veterans Day breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The event will begin at 8 a.m. in Rooms 202 B and C of the University Center.

Ferris’ Veterans Coordinator Adam Forbes said that the breakfast is sponsored by President David Eisler’s office. He added that veterans from the greater Big Rapids community are encouraged to attend.

“We’re a really community-oriented campus,” Forbes said. “President Eisler has been pleased by the turnout in years past. It’s a chance to honor service members, including those who have retired.”

Forbes said that a short program will be offered during the breakfast, which will include a medley of military service songs, with the colors to be presented by the National Guard. The keynote speaker will be National Guard Brigadier General Phillip Owens. Veterans are welcome to participate as their campus or personal schedules allow.

The breakfast is free to all veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, and no RSVP is required as a show of appreciation for the men and women who have served the nation. Veterans Day is held each year on Nov. 11, and was formerly known as Armistice Day in honor of the armistice that ended World War I, in 1918.

Any questions regarding the Veterans Day breakfast can be directed to Forbes’ office, or by calling (231) 591-2798.
