'Spring Break Slimdown' Contest to Promote Healthy Lifestyles on Campus

Are you trying to slim down before spring break or are you looking for an opportunity to start living a healthy lifestyle?

University Recreation is hosting "Spring Break Slimdown" competition from Sunday, Feb. 1 to Sunday, March 1 as a way to promote healthy lifestyles at Ferris State University.

"We wanted to implement a program that got students motivated to live a healthier lifestyle and that would accommodate the busy schedules that students and other members have," said UREC student staff member Emma Thibault. "The only expectation we have of participants is for them to show up for the initial and final weigh in."

To sign up for the competition, members can sign up at the UREC until Sunday, Feb. 1. There is a $5 entry fee. Initial weigh ins will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the UREC. Final weigh-ins will be held on Sunday, March 1 from 3-6 p.m. at the UREC.

The four-week competition will be based off the percentage of body fat lost rather than the amount of weight or inches lost. There will be prize incentives for the top three winners in both the male and female categories.
