`Live United Color War and 5K Run' Gives Students an Opportunity to Give Back

Ferris State UniversityFerris State University offers students and the community a colorful way to get involved on campus with the “Live United Color War and 5K Run” on Sunday, Sept. 28 at the West Campus Intramural Field beginning at 6 p.m.

The Live United Color War and 5K run is the kick-off event for this year’s 2014 homecoming week. The event features an obstacle course and a 5K run.

“All participants will be blasted with color powder at various points throughout the obstacle course and 5K route,” said Career Services Assistant Carrie Adams. “Those who have finished the obstacle course or 5K will hang out at a dance party until all participants finish their chosen course path. At the end, participants will toss their color packets in a color war.”

Event registration is open until Wednesday, Sept. 24. After this date, participants must register on the day of the event. Admission includes one T-shirt (first 200 participants) and two color packets. Additional color packets can be purchased for $2 at the event.

A signed waiver is required for children to participate in this event. Children age 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult, but may not participate. All minors attending this event must be accompanied by an adult.

It is advised that participants pick up their shirts and color packet vouchers on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 12 to 5 p.m. at the University Recreation Center. Participants must have a valid ID to pick up their order. There will also be the opportunity to purchase sunglasses and raffle tickets for this event. Prizes that will be raffled off include day passes to the University Recreation Center as well as fitness and intramural class passes.

All proceeds benefit the United Way, a worldwide organization that focuses on helping children and youth achieve their potential, promote financial stability and improving people’s health.
