Summer Internship Journal: Chloe Tooson, Week 6

June 25, 2014

By Chloe Tooson

It's hard to say that I have been here for a month and a half. In some ways it seems like a lot longer and then in others it seems like two weeks. I love it here. Each new day brings a new challenge. I am getting so many opportunities through Chene Park. It truly is like a family.

This week we had, as always, our Wednesday Jazzy Night Series featuring Manhattan Transfer with special guest Roy Ayers. During show days I am not only with our Marking Coordinator and Ferris PR alumna Candice Fortman. I am also paired with our Executive Chef Rosalind and Dressing Room and Hospitality Coordinator Donyale. Along with Ros's assistant I was making sure the dressing rooms were all set. Later in the night I got to have a conversation with Roy Ayers a jazz vibraphonist who at 74, is a living legend. It was really cool to talk to someone that means so much to the music community I am surrounded in.

Saturday was Hot 107.5 Summer Jamz. Artists such as B.o.B and Scarface preformed. I was more all over the place that day and spent a lot of time doing runs back and fourth to the box office. One of the tasks that I did on Saturday was run the will call area that is set up next to the box office. I was there for around an hour and can confidently say I have some wicked tan lines because of it. The show was relatively a success. It was great to be apart of such a big show.

One small thing that happened during week 6 was that I was asked to do some design work for a flyer that we passed out to the entire venue's guest for the club that holds the Wednesday night after party. They loved it.
