Gov. Snyder Appoints Brown and Gwizdala to Ferris Board of Trustees

Ferris State UniversityLANSING – Erin Brown, of East Lansing, and Lori Gwizdala, of Bay City, have been appointed to Ferris State University’s Board of Trustees to serve eight-year terms. The announcement was made by Gov. Rick Snyder on Thursday, Nov. 15.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Erin Brown and Lori Gwizdala to the Ferris State University Board of Trustees,” said Ferris President David Eisler. “They both bring wonderful backgrounds as we continue to move our university forward. As we welcome Erin and Lori, I want to thank Ron Snead and George Menoutes for their years of service. Their dedication paves the way for our new members to make a smooth transition and begin making a positive impact very quickly.”

Brown is a strategic adviser and project manager for Rockford-based Holton Research LLC, a position she has held since 2008. Brown is also adjunct marketing faculty at Michigan State University. Previously, she served as adjunct marketing faculty at Grand Valley State University and as government relations supervisor, industry and community affairs manager, and corporate citizenship manager for Amway Corp. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in legal and business administration from Grand Valley State University and a master’s degree in international management and marketing from Aquinas College. She replaces Ronald E. Snead, of Greenville.

Gwizdala is executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Midland-based Chemical Financial Corp., where she has worked since 1985. Before serving in her current roles, Gwizdala held the position of controller. She is a certified public accountant and a member of MidMichigan Health’s audit and finance committees. Gwizdala received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. She replaces George J. Menoutes, of Flint, who serves as board secretary.

“Erin and Lori bring outstanding leadership and professional experiences to this board, and I am thankful for their willingness to serve the students, faculty and staff of Ferris State University,” Snyder said.

Appointees will serve eight-year terms that expire Dec. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

The current Ferris Board of Trustees includes: Menoutes, Snead, Vice Chair Sueann L. Walz, of Big Rapids; Arthur L. Tebo of Walloon Lake; Alisha M. Baker, of Mount Clemens; Paul E. Boyer, of Grand Rapids; Gary L. Granger, of Byron Center; and Dr. D. William Lakin, of Clinton Twp.
