Ferris to Host Homecoming Comedians Show

Among the Ferris State University 2011 Homecoming celebrations emerges the homecoming comedian event on Thursday, Oct. 13 in Williams Auditorium.

Rising comedians Streeter Seidell and Sheng Wang will be performing at 7 p.m. Special guest performer comedian Jermaine Fowler will kick off the show and chirp in from time to time as the MC. This event is free and open to the public.

Ferris senior Chris Howell, homecoming comedian chair said, “The comedians tailor their act to the university. Students on the committee picked the homecoming comedians and they are hilarious and well known. It is an overall good experience for everyone. ”

He continued saying the homecoming comedian event really showcases school spirit, while bringing the students and the community together. From what the Homecoming Comedian Committee has heard so far students seem really excited for the chosen comedians and want to attend.

“It’s really hard to get the Williams Auditorium packed, but I feel like the homecoming comedian does a good job of filling the auditorium,” Howell said.

He said an event like this is a big deal and hopes the Ferris community shows their support as well.

Homecoming Committee Graphic Designer Stacey Harper said the reason they choose Seidell was because he is a part of CollegeHumor.com.

“Anything he says or does will directly relate to student life. That’s what his comedy is directed at. It’s all about student life,” Harper said.

Seidell is the host of MTV’s TV show Pranks where he commentates on some of the best pranks caught on camera. He is also a writer for CollegeHumor.com. Wang has toured with Comedians of Comedy and American Eagle’s ‘Campus Comedy Challenge.’ He has also been aired on Comedy Central.

This event is sponsored by the Finance Division of Student Government and is brought to campus by the Student Homecoming Committee and Entertainment Unlimited, Campus Programming Board.
