Bishop Receives Sytsma Faculty Excellence Award

Patrick BishopBIG RAPIDS – The College of Business at Ferris State University recently recognized Patrick Bishop, assistant professor of Public Relations, as the 2010 recipient of the Sytsma Award for Faculty Excellence.

The purpose of the Sytsma Faculty Excellence Award is to promote, encourage, recognize and reward faculty performance excellence and improvement. The recipient receives a $500 cash grant.

In addition to being described as an excellent teacher, Bishop has been instrumental in achieving Certification in Education in Public Relations for the Ferris program. He has a reputation among his peers as effective and knowledgeable in respecting, challenging and engaging his students.

Bishop has been with the College of Business since 2006 and is currently completing his Ph.D. dissertation with Western Michigan University.

The Sytsma Award is made possible by a gift from Ferris professor emeritus Sid Sytsma to recognize faculty members who have “contributed by their work and example, often at personal sacrifice, to improving and furthering the educational mission of the college.”
