John Hare receives honorary doctoral degree

BpictureIG RAPIDS – John Hare received an honorary doctoral degree from Ferris State University during a May 10 spring commencement ceremony for the College of Business.

Hare served as president of ABC Radio’s 72 stations nationwide from February 1999 until his retirement in the spring of 2007. Previously, he was group president of ABC-Owned Radio Stations since 1997. In this capacity, he was responsible for stations in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Detroit and Washington, D.C.

A Detroit area native, Hare graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He and his wife, Joanne, are the parents of four children.

More than 1,700 students at Ferris State University were candidates for degrees this spring. The university honored these graduates in five ceremonies over two days, during which more than 1,500 students participated.

Commencement exercises also were held for the colleges of Arts, Sciences and Education, Pharmacy, Professional and Technological Studies, and Allied Health Sciences May 9. The College of Technology kicked off ceremonies May 10 followed by the College of Business, and finally the College of Education and Human Services, and Michigan College of Optometry.
