DPS welcomes new officer, chaplain and cadets

pictureDepartment of Public Safety Chief Marty Bledsoe swore in a new police officer, police chaplain and two cadets during a December ceremony. Officer Mike Chamberlain is a veteran law enforcement officer as a deputy of the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Ferris. His most recent assignment at the sheriff's office was as the county's school liaison officer. Chaplain Rev. Jon Fleming is the pastor of the United Church of Big Rapids. Cadet Patrick Williams is currently attending the police academy at Ferris, available to graduate this May. He is originally from Mattawan and is a former football player at Ferris. Cadet Ryan Kirkpatrick is also currently in the academy and graduating in May. He is from Owosso and has had assignments as a marine officer in the sheriff's office and is a current student employee at FSU DPS.
