Ferris DPS Recognizes Quick Thinking of Foot Patrol Officers

pictureBIG RAPIDS – The Ferris State University Department of Public Safety recognized two of its student foot patrol officers for their efforts in averting a potentially dangerous situation.

During the evening hours of Nov. 2, DPS Director Martin J. Bledsoe said Tomas J. Pankiewicz of Newaygo and Matthew Thompson of Manistee observed and reported to campus police a situation in which a student was locked in the trunk of a vehicle.

“It was because of the quick thinking of these two young men that a potentially dangerous situation was avoided,” Bledsoe said. “They should be commended for their dedication to keeping campus and their peers safe.”

Bledsoe honored the foot patrol officers during a brief ceremony, during which the students’ family and friends were invited to participate.
