Guaranteed Early Admission Route

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) Guaranteed Early Admission Route (GEAR) is an alternate admissions pathway for highly qualified high school seniors or college students interested in securing early admission to the Pharm.D. program at Ferris. This early admission program reserves a seat up to 2 - 3 years while you complete your pre-pharmacy coursework.

GEAR Admission Requirements for High School Students

• A minimum high school GPA of 3.0
• A strong interest in attending pharmacy school
• Currently considering enrolling in college level pre-pharmacy coursework

Once Accepted

• Maintain a 3.0 GPA in college level science and math pre-pharmacy coursework
• Earn at least a C- (1.7) in all science and math pre-pharmacy courses
• Complete all the admission requirements and apply to pharmacy school via PharmCAS by the October priority admissions deadline

GEAR Admission Requirements for College Students Enrolled in Pre-Pharmacy Courses

• Currently enrolled in college level pre-pharmacy coursework (this program is not meant for students intending to start pharmacy school Fall 2024)
• A minimum College GPA of 3.0 if applicable (High School GPA will be used if this is your first semester of college courses)
• A strong interest in attending pharmacy school

Once Accepted:

• Maintain a 3.0 GPA in college level science and math pre-pharmacy coursework
• Earn at least a C- (1.7) in all science and math pre-pharmacy courses
• Complete all the admission requirements and apply to pharmacy school via PharmCAS by the October priority admissions deadline

How to Apply to the Ferris State GEAR Program

1. Obtain a coupon code to cover the $50 application fee by emailing [email protected]. Please request the coupon code prior to applying since Ferris State University cannot refund the fee once it has been paid.
2. Create an account at PharmDirect
3. Submit application materials (Transcripts from high school and/or college)

Once your application is submitted, the College of Pharmacy Admissions Committee will review your application. Qualified candidates will then be invited to participate in the program. If you are not accepted into GEAR we highly recommend that you then apply for admissions through the normal application cycle.
