Research Misconduct proceedings shall consist of the following phases:
A. Policy
As an institution of higher education committed to the ideals inherent in our core values, Ferris State University is dedicated to fostering an ethical community based on the principles of academic integrity. Therefore, all breaches of academic integrity are considered as serious offences against our values. As such, the University Community is committed to a process based on the following principles:
A student has the right to:
- Be informed of the nature and circumstances of any allegation of academic misconduct,
- Challenge allegations of academic misconduct; and,
- Appeal the decision of responsible finding.
The University has the responsibility to:
- Promote academic integrity, address dishonesty and assist in the development of ethical
reasoning; - Ensure students are provided with a clear and complete syllabus which describes course
expectations, guidelines, and standards of performance, - Hold students accountable for adhering to these expectations, guidelines, and standards
of performance, - Foster an environment where academic integrity is expected and respected,
- Deter, detect and address breaches of academic misconduct in a fair manner with
proper due process.
