Ferris State women's golf team finishes 12th at NCAA DII National Championships; best finish in 17 years

The Ferris State University women's golf team finished 12th in the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday with a 934 team score at the end of the 54-hole stroke play competition.
The finish marked Ferris State’s highest national finish since tying for sixth place in 2009.
The Bulldogs completed their second consecutive trip to the nationals, coming in only nine strokes out of eighth place and an advancing spot to the NCAA DII National Quarterfinals. Ferris State carded scores of 309 in round one, 312 in round two and 313 in the final round, tying with both Arkansas Tech University and Barry University for 12th place in the field of 18 squads.
Senior Kamryn Shannon led the Bulldogs as she finished tied for 34th place on the leaderboard with a three-round total of 231, including a 78 in Thursday's final round.
Ferris State’s Ashley Thomasma came in tied for 39th at 232, shooting a 79 in round three. Senior Lizzie Anderson posted a 77 in the last round and placed tied for 42nd with a three-round score of 233.
Kylie Walker came in tied for 63rd, notching a 79 in Thursday's competition for a three-round total of 238 in the event. Finally, Taylor Musselman shot a 86 in the last round and finished with a 257 score for 93rd place.
The DII National Championships were hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Palm Beach Sports Commission. Each team competes in 54 holes of play with a round of 18 each day. The top eight teams in the field after Thursday's final round advanced to the head-to-head match play quarterfinals.
This year's trip to the national championship finals represented Ferris State’s 11th in school history and second in a row. Last year, the Bulldogs placed 17th.
Along with reaching the D2 National Championships this year, the Bulldogs also won the GLIAC Championship and placed third in the NCAA D2 East Regional Championships under head coach Sam Stark.
