Ferris State women's golf team advances to NCAA DII National Championship tournament

The Ferris State University women's golf team is headed to the NCAA Division II National Championships for the second consecutive year, coming away with a third-place finish at the NCAA D2 East Regional Championships on Tuesday.
By virtue of a top-four finish at the regional event, the Bulldogs will now advance to the NCAA DII National Championships set for May 12-16 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Host Findlay University emerged victorious as the regional champion with a +39 score of 903 for the 54 holes of play. The Oilers were followed by Grand Valley State University with 928 and Ferris State with 943 in the top three with University of Missouri-St. Louis also advancing in fourth place with 945 among the 18 competing schools.
The Bulldogs rallied in the final two rounds of the tournament after opening the event with a 326 team figure on Monday. Ferris State carded a 313 total in Monday's second round and ranked tied for fifth heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes when the Bulldogs came away with their low round of the tournament with a 304 figure to move into third place.
Ferris State's Lizzie Anderson tied for fourth place overall with a score of 226 for the three rounds. She carded scores of 78 and 74 on Monday followed by another 74 on Tuesday.
Kamryn Shannon placed tied for 14th in the field at 234 overall, shooting a final round 70 on Tuesday after opening with scores of 83 and 81 in Monday's play.
The Bulldogs' Kylie Walker finished tied for 31st with a 240 effort, shooting a 79 in the last round. She opened with an 82 on Monday in the first round followed by a 79 in round two.
Ferris State's Ashley Thomasma placed tied for 60th with a 248 score. Thomasma shot an 83 and an 84 in day one play before coming back with an 81 over the final 18 holes of play.
Taylor Musselman shot an 82 in the final round after posting a score of 79 in round two for a 161 total and 93rd place. She substituted for Paige Anderson, who shot an 87 in round one and was 92nd overall.
All participants competed through the 54 holes of competition with the top four teams from the East Region along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team moving on to the national championships.
