BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams are both headed to the NCAA Division II Tournament as the two Bulldog squads received bids via a live selection announcement on Monday.

The NCAA Division II national men's and women's selection committees released the fields for the national tournaments via NCAA.com.

The women’s team will hit the road for regional action starting Friday in Findlay, Ohio, while the men will play host to one of two Midwest Regional Tournaments beginning on Monday. The men's regional will be played at Big Rapids High School unless weather forces the event inside at the Ferris State Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldog women's team received its 24th national tournament bid and its second in a row while the men's team earned its 11th consecutive berth and will make its 29th NCAA Tournament appearance. Both teams are guided by head coach Mark Doren.

On the women's side, Ferris State is seeded third in the Midwest Region and will square off against sixth-seeded Rockhurst University in first-round action at 2 p.m. on Friday.

The University of Findlay was chosen to host one of the two Midwest Region brackets with the winner of the opening round matchup squaring off against the top-seeded host Oilers or seventh-seeded Indianapolis University on Saturday for the right to move on to the DII Sweet Sixteen set for May 19-24 in Surprise, Arizona.

Meanwhile, the men's squad drew the No. 2 seed and a host spot in the Midwest Region and will face seventh-seeded Drury University in first-round action on Monday at Big Rapids High School.

On the other side of the Midwest Region bracket, third-seeded Wayne State University will face sixth-seeded Northwood University, and the winners will then meet in the bracket final Tuesday in Big Rapids. The winner of the four-team event on the men's side will also move on to the NCAA II round of 16 in Arizona.

The Bulldog men's team is 17-3 this year and captured both the GLIAC regular season and tournament championships. The women own a 13-7 mark and were the runner-up in both conference regular season and postseason play this campaign.
