Ferris State tennis players Kovacs, Peisley sweep GLIAC awards while STUNT flyer Kaltenbach become the university’s first GLVC honoree

Ferris State University tennis players Kevin Kovacs and Madeline Peisley swept GLIAC Player of the Week honors, and STUNT flyer Carmen Kaltenbach became the first player in that team’s history to earn weekly honors.
Kovacs and Peisley were honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference following the sixth week of the 2026 tennis spring season.
The awards reflect the Bulldogs' action earlier this week in their opening two matches of their annual spring break trip.
Kovacs, a Business Administration major from Toronto, earned a pair of wins on March 8 as the Bulldogs opened up action in Florida.
He topped nationally 15th-ranked Mario Garoz of Florida Southern University by a 6-3, 6-3 count in straight-sets and paired up with Felipe Iser for a 6-3 win at three doubles in the match.
On March 10, he came back to notch a 6-2, 6-2 win at one singles match in a 7-0 sweep over Augustana University at the USTA National Courts in Florida and posted a 6-0 decision at three doubles with Iser in the contest.
For the two matches, he finished with a perfect 4-0 record as the Bulldogs improved to 9-2 this season.
Peisley, a Professional Tennis Management major from Toledo, led the Bulldogs on March 8 as Ferris State opened its Florida competition with a narrow 4-3 setback at Florida Southern.
Peisley claimed a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 triumph at one singles in the match and teamed up with Yara Madi for a close 7-6 (7-3) setback at two doubles.
Carmen Kaltenbach
On March 10, she emerged victorious by a 6-2, 6-0 count at one singles match in a 4-3 loss against Augustana at the USTA National Courts and paired up with Madi in a 6-1 setback at two doubles. For the two outings, she finished with a perfect 2-0 mark at the top singles position in the Ferris State lineup.
Kaltenbach, a Nursing major from Dearborn, was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Athlete of the Week in STUNT.
Kaltenbach becomes the first-ever Ferris State STUNT student-athlete to claim the GLVC weekly honor in the program's inaugural campaign.
She helped Ferris State go 3-1 last week against Texas A&M University - Kingsville, Southern Nazarene University, St. Edward's University, and Texas Woman's University.
Kaltenbach earned a power-point average of 28.25 for the week, highlighted by a 48-point performance against Southern Nazarene.
