Basketball coach, analyst Shimmy Miller discussing her career with Ferris State students on Feb. 16

Ferris State University will welcome former Division I athlete, collegiate coach, and professional basketball analyst Shimmy Miller for a virtual speaking engagement on Monday, February 16, at 3 p.m.
The event, organized by Ferris State’s Sports Professionals Association, will take place via Zoom and be hosted in the David Eisler Center, Room 202A.
The event provides students, faculty, and community members with a unique opportunity to engage with a leader who has excelled on the court, on the sidelines, and behind the microphone.
Miller brings a wealth of experience from every level of women’s basketball. She played for the University of Michigan women’s basketball program, competing at the highest level of the Big Ten Conference. Miller transitioned into coaching, where she has been a key contributor to winning teams, most recently with Minnesota women’s college basketball.
In addition to her coaching success, Miller serves as a basketball analyst for the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, as well as being a studio and game analyst for the Big Ten Network offering expert insight on player development, strategy, and the evolving landscape of women’s professional basketball.
During her visit, Miller will discuss her journey from student-athlete to coach and analyst, leadership in competitive sports environments, and the importance of representation and opportunity in women’s athletics.
