Ferris State professor Emily Fransted honored with Teaching Excellence Award by national organization

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — 

Ferris State University Business Law professor Emily W. Fransted has been recognized as a distinguished recipient of the 2026 Teaching Excellence Award by a national accreditation organization, a prestigious accolade is bestowed upon educators who demonstrate outstanding teaching prowess.

Fransted, recognized for her commitment to excellence in the classroom, will be celebrated alongside other regional awardees at the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs’ conference this week in Phoenix.

Fransted, as a regional recipient, is now in contention for the esteemed International Teaching Excellence Award.

Fransted has been a member of the Ferris State faculty for nearly 15 years, teaching in the Department of Management in the College of Business.

She previously worked as an attorney at Lobert & Fransted, P.C. for nearly six years, and was a judicial clerk for the 49th Circuit Court for two years.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts, Public Policy and Administration from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctorate from MSU’s College of Law.

Established in 1995 by the ACBSP Associate Degree Commission, the International Teaching Excellence Award acknowledges exceptional educators in the classroom. In 2002, a parallel award was introduced by the Baccalaureate Degree Commission, recognizing teaching excellence at the baccalaureate/graduate degree level.

ACBSP remains the sole accrediting body for business schools that presents an award for teaching excellence, open to applications from its extensive global membership.
