Ferris State University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are both headed to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament this week, with first round matchups on Wednesday.

The women’s team, ranked No. 13 in the nation, will start the tournament at home on Wednesday, hosting sixth-seeded Parkside University in the quarterfinal round at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs tied for second place in the league standings and will be the third seed for the league tournament.

Ferris State is 24-5 this year and closed out the regular season with a 17-3 conference record following Saturday's 71-62 road win at Davenport University. Parkside is 14-14 and 9-1 in league action.

The Bulldogs beat the Rangers twice this season, earning a high-scoring 96-90 home win on Jan. 5 at Wink Arena before topping UWP 82-69 on Feb. 7 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Wednesday's game will be carried live by local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. with a free audio webcast also offered at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.

The game will also be streamed live on FloCollege with video coverage provided by Ferris State Television.

Tickets for Wednesday's league tourney quarterfinal at home are on sale now and are available for purchase online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com/Tickets.

Ticket prices for the league quarterfinal game are $10 for adults or $2 for all students older than age five, including college students with identification. The first 100 Ferris State students with a valid ID card will earn free admission at the door starting one hour prior to game time.

All seats are general admission and no regular season passes of any type except an official GLIAC pass will be accepted per league tournament regulations. All Rebounders and Sixth Dawg Club members must also purchase tickets for postseason play per GLIAC policy.

Four quarterfinal-round games will be played on Wednesday with the winners advancing to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals and Finals at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8.

The winner of the GLIAC Tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 13-16 at a campus site yet to be determined. In this past week's NCAA D2 Midwest Regional Rankings, Grand Valley State University was first and Ferris State was second.

Ferris State has posted a 18-20 overall record in 22 previous league women's basketball tournament appearances and will be making its ninth-straight appearance in the field after making its first since the 2012-13 campaign back in 2018.

The Bulldogs have finished as the tournament runner-up four times and reached the semifinal round in 12 of their 13 previous trips to the league event. The team captured their only GLIAC Tourney Championship in 2022 by beating rival Grand Valley State on the Lakers' home floor in the tournament title game.

The men's basketball squad also earned a berth in the 2026 GLIAC Tournament and will square off against top-seeded Northern Michigan University on Wednesday in Marquette.

The Bulldogs, who drew the eighth seed, will take on the Wildcats for the third time this year in the quarterfinal-round game at Vandament Arena on the NMU campus. The contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m.

There will be no local radio coverage of the game due to FSU women's basketball at home, but the game will be streamed live via pay-per-view by FloCollege and live internet statistics will be provided. Visit FerrisStateBulldogs.com and the men's basketball schedule page for a complete listing of available coverage links.

Northern Michigan shared the league regular-season crown with Michigan Tech and won the tiebreaker for the league's top seed. NMU enters the game with a 25-5 overall record while FSU is 10-17 on the year and won a tiebreaker over Saginaw Valley State for the eighth and final spot in the field with a 7-13 league mark.

NMU won both regular-season matchups against the Bulldogs by scores of 95-66 on Jan. 12 in Marquette and 75-53 on Feb. 21 in Big Rapids.

Four quarterfinal-round games will be played on Wednesday with the winners advancing to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals and Finals on Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8, at the site of the highest remaining seed.

The winner of the GLIAC Tournament receives an automatic bid into the respective NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament slated to be held March 14-17 at a campus site yet to be determined.

This is Ferris State’s 26th GLIAC Tournament appearance in men's basketball. The team is 27-22 all-time in league tourney action. The Bulldogs have captured six league tournament titles in program history, including 1997-98 along with 2015-18 in addition to 2023-24.
