BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Ferris State University senior Kamryn Shannon  has been chosen as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week.

Shannon, a Jackson native majoring in Sports Communications, led the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish at the Warrior Invitational held Sept. 22-23, in Washington, Michigan.

The Ferris State standout tied for first overall in the field with a 219 figure for the 54 holes of action as Bulldogs placed third in the team race.

Shannon carded scores of 72 in round one, 73 in round two and 74 in the final round while finishing in a four-way tie atop the leaderboard. It marked Shannon's second top five finish in two fall competitions to date this year.

Shannon has been a leader on the course and in the classroom. In June she earned the GLIAC Commissioner's Award for her leadership and academic success.

Last year she was named the Women’s Golf Coaches’ Association East Region Team, First Team All-GLIAC and named a WGCA Academic All-American.

She was named First Team All-GLIAC and a WGCA Academic All-American as a sophomore and Second Team All-GLIAC as a freshman.

The Bulldogs will host their own Bulldog Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, at the university’s Katke Golf Course.
