Ferris State football team’s Kailib Davis chosen as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

Ferris State football lineman Kailib Davis was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week after his performance in Saturday’s dominating win over lake Erie University.
Davis, a senior from Grand Rapids majoring in Management, earned the award for the first time in his collegiate career.
Davis helped the nation's top-ranked Bulldogs turn in a dominating defensive effort in a decisive 63-6 road win at Lake Erie in Painesville, Ohio. He controlled the middle of the line of scrimmage and came up with three tackles for loss (-15 yards) and two sacks (-14 yards) in a balanced effort.
The Ferris State defense came up with three turnovers and had five sacks while holding the Storm to only 124 yards of total offense, including only 58 rushing yards. Lake Erie had only 27 total yards in the first half with only five yards on the ground.
The Bulldogs played all 70 players in uniform while extending their unbeaten streak
to 16 games.
Ferris State will return home this Saturday, Sept. 13, to host the Tiffin University
Dragons in a key non-league matchup at Top Taggart Field.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. The Dragons, a potential NCAA DII playoff squad, recorded an 11-1 mark in 2023 and reached the playoffs before notching an 8-4 record a year ago.
Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale now.
