BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Ferris State University football standouts Wyatt Bower and Tyrone Fowler earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week recognition after helping lead the top-ranked Bulldogs to an exciting 41-34 home win over Tiffin University on Sunday.

Bower, a quarterback from Corunna, was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while senior defensive end Tyrone Fowler, a Philadelphia native, claimed the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Bower led the Bulldogs to their 17th consecutive victory, accounting for 378 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the win. He completed 15-of-23 throws for 232 yards and two scores while adding a game-high 20 carries for 146 yards and three touchdowns, which included a critical 75-yard touchdown run on the first play after TU had trimmed the Ferris State lead to two scores in the third period.

Bower also capped the victory with a one-yard plunge with less than two minutes to go, pushing the margin back to two scores. The Bulldogs rolled up 534 yards of total offense under his direction.

Fowler had a huge day on the defensive side for Ferris State. The edge rusher compiled nine tackles in the game, including two tackles for loss, while adding a pair of sacks and two additional quarterback hurries.

It marks the first time that Bower or Fowler have earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors.

This week, the Bulldogs will host the University of Rio Grande in the homecoming matchup on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Top Taggart Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. (ET) and tickets are on sale now.
