Bulldog pride in action: Ferris State cheer and STUNT team is making history, giving back

Ferris State University's new cheer and STUNT team is turning heads for more than just their athletic talent—they're becoming known for their dedication to service, spirit, and community.
As the first varsity sport added to Ferris State in more than 25 years, the cheer and STUNT program is already making history. But its impact goes well beyond the sidelines.
These student-athletes are preparing for competition but also pouring their energy into making a difference across the Big Rapids area and beyond.
The team kicked off the school year by welcoming new students during Move-In Day, offering helping hands and a warm Bulldog welcome. It then headed to Camp Newaygo, where students tackled cleaning projects and facility maintenance - showing that their commitment to teamwork extends far past the mat.
Their community outreach recently took an especially heartfelt turn at The Brook of Big Rapids, an assisted living facility, where team members organized a special "Pamper Day" for residents. With uplifting conversations, shared laughter, and genuine care, the team brought smiles to the faces of local seniors - many of whom said it was the highlight of their week.
Recently, the team also shined a spotlight on youth with their Little Dawg Night, hosting more than 50 young girls from surrounding communities. The event took place during halftime of the Bulldog football home contest against Tiffin, offering a moment of excitement and inspiration for the next generation of athletes.
In October, the team will take their energy and spirit to Grand Rapids, joining thousands of participants in the Making Strides of West Michigan Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 18 at Calder Plaza. Their participation underscores their commitment to causes bigger than themselves and their desire to uplift those facing difficult battles.
The Ferris State cheer and STUNT team is proving that being a Bulldog means more than just athletic excellence - it means leadership, heart, and a whole lot of hustle.
