Ferris State women's golf team finishes 17th in nation at NCAA DII National Championships

The Ferris State University women's golf team finished 17th in the nation at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships, capping off a successful season.

 After notching a 314 team figure in the first round, the Bulldogs came back with a 285 score in round two of play in the 54-hole event on Wednesday and then closed the tournament on Thursday with a 304 figure in the final round.

The Bulldogs were making their first appearance in the national finals in 16 years. This year's trip to the national championship finals represented Ferris State's 10th in school history and first since 2009.

Ferris State finished 17th with a 903 team total during the stroke play championships at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

Dallas Baptist University claimed first place with an 845 total followed by California State University San Marcos with 850 and Flagler University with 851.  The top eight teams on the leaderboard advanced to the head-to-head medal match play quarterfinals.

Ferris State was led by Pre-Pharmacy major Kylie Walker, who finished 55th with a 222 figure. She shot a first-round 75 followed by a 71 in round two and a 76 in the final round.

The Bulldogs' Lizzie Anderson, a PGA Golf Management major, placed tied for 70th with a 224 figure, carding an impressive 70 on Wednesday after her opening round score of 80 on day one. She finished with a 74 in the last round.

Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon, a Sports Communication major, tied for 80th at 228 as she shot a 70 in the second round after previously coming in with an 83 in the opening round. Her final round came in at 75 for Ferris State.

Nursing major Ashley Thomasma finished tied for 84th place at 230 overall. She notched a 76 in the first round and came back with a 74 in the second round before closing with an 80 in the third and final round.

PGA Golf Management major Susie Gietl took 92nd on the leaderboard at 242 for the tourney, recording an 85 the first day followed by a 78 in day two action and a 79 in the last round.

The Bulldogs were making their first appearance in the national finals in 16 years. This year's trip to the national championship finals represented Ferris State's 10th in school history and first since 2009.
