Future Entrepreneurs Take the Stage at Ferris State University Bulldog Pitch Competition

On April 11th, Ferris State invited several teams of high schoolers from all over Michigan to the College of Business to compete in the first Bulldog Pitch Competition. Each team had to generate a feasible idea of a product/service, then develop a business venture.
In February, each group of high schoolers went through an application process and had to submit a 2-minute video of their business startup idea. Then, in May, each group that got selected had the chance to develop their idea and make a 10-minute presentation pitch. Every team’s presentation had to include a problem, solution, key metrics, unique value proposition, unfair advantage, channels, customer segments, early adopters, cost structure, and revenue streams.

Finally, on April 11th, each selected team pitched their business startup idea to a jury of entrepreneurs and faculty. There were 5 total teams from Genesee Career Institute, Linden High School, and University High School
The top 3 winners each got a small prize the 1st place team also received a cash prize.
According to Emily Zoet, “This event was all about giving high schoolers a chance to showcase their business ideas and experience Ferris State University. This was one of the strategic initiatives from the dean as part of our recruitment efforts.”
