Ferris State Fine Art Gallery director Carrie Weis to be honored at the 2025 Michigan Museums Association Awards Celebration

Peer recognition for the work Carrie Weis has invested into elevating Ferris State University’s Fine Art Gallery is garnering praise beyond the Big Rapids campus.
Weis, director of the Fine Art Gallery and Card/Riley Conservation & Wildlife Museum, will be highlighted at the 2025 Michigan Museums Association Awards Celebration with a Colleague Champion Award on May 15 at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
Award nominees embody exceptional service, teamwork, dedication, collaboration and inspiration in art.
“I am truly honored to be nominated for an award by the Michigan Museums Association, and especially grateful that this recognition comes from my colleagues,” Weis said. “To be acknowledged by those I work alongside in this field is deeply meaningful. It’s a privilege to contribute to Michigan’s museum community through the work I, and many others, perform at Ferris.”
Weis, who holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Ferris State's Kendall College of Art and Design in Fine Arts Painting, added, “I’m inspired every day by the passion and dedication of those around me.”
The Michigan Museum Association will highlight 31 members at the May ceremony.
“I’ve been a member of the MMA for 25 years, they are an organization that has been supporting the work of Michigan museums for over 60 years,” Weis said. “They provide opportunities, grants, and advocacy at the federal level for every type of museum. It is an honor to be recognized. I deeply appreciate my colleagues who nominated me.”
