BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

Ferris State University is offering personalized transfer advising sessions and other resources to support Siena Heights University students as they continue their academic journey.

Siena Heights University, a liberal arts institution in Adrian, Michigan, recently announced it will close after the 2025-2026 academic year, ending a 105-year legacy of service affecting about 2,000 students.

Jeanine Ward-Roof, vice president for Student Affairs at Ferris State, emphasized the university’s commitment to providing personalized support during what is an unsettling time for many students and their families.

A Siena Heights transfer resource website with information about financial aid, scholarships, and other topics is now available.

“Uncertainty can be challenging, and many students are actively exploring their options and searching for programs that support their continued educational journey,” Ward-Roof said. “Ferris State offers more than 180 academic majors, with a wide range of online courses and support through our Student Support Hubs across the state. We’re here to answer questions and provide guidance to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted transition.”

A number of Siena Heights students have already transferred to Ferris State to pursue degrees such as Special Education, with many other in-demand programs available to help students prepare for meaningful careers.

Ferris State was recently designated an Opportunity University, an elite recognition granted through the new Student Access and Earnings Classification developed by the Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education—two leading national organizations supporting higher education access and success.

Ferris State also features a low 16:1 student to faculty ratio and small class sizes to help students learn by experience from professors who are experts in their fields.

Ferris State has launched a dedicated webpage with information on scholarships, financial aid, academic advising, and other essential resources to help make the transfer process seamless.

Personalized advising sessions are being scheduled with Kasey Ninke, Ferris State’s associate director for Admissions Processes. Students can contact her directly at [email protected] to set up an appointment.

Ferris State also offers both an admissions hotline – 231-591-2000 and [email protected] --  and a financial aid hotline – 231-591-2110 and [email protected] -- to answer questions from Siena Heights students or anyone navigating the college transfer process.
