Former Ferris State hockey standout Bradley Marek signs with NHL's Minnesota Wild

Former Ferris State University hockey standout and Big Rapids native Bradley Marek signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild.

Marek, 24, played two seasons collegiately from 2021-23 for the Bulldogs where he totaled 36 points in 72 career games on 17 goals and 19 assists. He was the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Year in 2021-22 after posting 19 points and tying for the team lead in goals.
Marek signed an American Hockey League contract with the San Jose Barracuda, the top affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, in 2023 before joining the Iowa Wild.
He produced 19 points on 13 goals and six assists with 106 total shots and 71 penalty minutes in 76 games across two AHL season with Iowa and San Jose. He had 13 points with eight goals and five assists to go with 67 penalty minutes and 76 shots in 50 games for Iowa this past season.
Marek attended the Sharks' 2023 Development Camp and appeared in 36 games for the Bulldogs in his final season, 2022-23, collecting 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists.
Among Bulldog skaters, he ranked tied for first in power-play goals (3), third in points (18), tied for third in goals (8), and shots (67), and ranked fourth in assists (10).
As a freshman in 2021-22, Marek produced 19 points -- 10 goals, nine assists -- in 36 games.
Prior to his college career, the Big Rapids product spent parts of three seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Bloomington Thunder/Central Illinois Flying Aces, Youngstown Phantoms and Muskegon Lumberjacks. He appeared in 31 games with the North American Hockey League's Springfield Jr. Blues in 2017-18.
